*** Jon Grantham

*** COMPETITION VENUE CHANGE FOR 10/27:
Due to a facility issue with San Jose State University, that show has been moved to Diablo Valley College in Concord. Times have not yet been made available but as soon as more information is known it will go up on the band web page.

*** AMADOR BAND TO MAKE APPEARANCE IN FOOTHILL BAND REVIEW PARADE!
At 10:40 am the Amador band will step off in exhibition down Main Street in support of and as a participant in the Foothill Band Review. The plan is to have a
break after the parade (and as late a report time as feasible), a rehearsal in the afternoon and another break before departing for the competition at DVC that evening. A full schedule for 10/27 will be forthcoming as soon as the performance time at DVC is known.

*** BAND DIRECTOR NEEDS HELP!
If you have time and ability to help build some very SIMPLE front sideline "shields" to hide cases and equipment for the soloists in our show, I need your help and talents. I have a parent who is willing to sew the covers to slip over the PVC frames but need two 8' long x 2' tall and one 5' long x 2' tall frames. They are not super high tech but also are not something that can be ordered. Though terribly last minute, your energies are appreciated if you can help.
Email Mr. Grantham at jgrantham@pleasanton.k12.ca.us.

*** Friends & Family Performance!
November 13th
6:30 PM
Cindy Gehl

Sometimes getting family and friends to a football game or competition to see the band perform can be difficult. This year the band is going to do their entire show in uniform on Nov. 13 at 6:30 pm. Invite family, friends, neighbors and anyone else you like.

Let's see if we can fill the stadium with fans as the students give their last performance before WBA Championships.

*** Senior Recognition: Pam Sangiacomo

We will be meeting on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:30 probably in the choir room. We have had a few discussions about what to do this year at championships but would gladly welcome more ideas and your help. Please let us know if you are able to make any sort of donations to make this a special time for our seniors. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at sangiacomo@comcast.net.

*** Tuesday Night Treats
Janice Maurer

We are asking parents to bring snacks for the kids to enjoy following their practice on Tuesday nights. You would be surprised how hungry the kids are after putting in all that hard work and some don't have a chance to grab dinner. Would you commit to bringing some donuts or cupcakes or some other tasty treat?
We are doing a Halloween theme, so any fun treat would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to donate, please email jmaurerca@aol.com

*** Photo's Needed
Lori Sheppard

Calling all parent photographers! Please e-mail me any photos taken of the band this year (individual or group, whatever) I'd like to compile a cd for Mr. Grantham to use or distribute as he desires, make prints for the band wall, etc. I believe we have a few parents with great cameras but not everyone is at every practice so this way may capture them best.
Thanks much,
Lori Sheppard

*** Lost Jacket!
Laura Keller Gum

We've been missing a favorite jacket since the rainy Saturday band practice, and are hoping someone may have gotten it mixed up with their stuff at home. This was a gift and we'd really like it back if possible! Powder blue/navy Gore-Tex Roadrunner Sports hooded women's jacket, medium. If anyone locates it, please call Laura or Leah at 461-9411, or return to Mr. Grantham's office, no questions asked! Thanks so much!

*** All That's Jazz:
October 30, 2007
Carl & Marilyn Palowitch

Have you ever wondered? How many jazz festivals are we attending this year? Has the concert schedule changed? Do I have the right dates now? What is the Campana Jazz Festival? What can I do as a parent to support the Jazz program? Why does she have to listen to jazz - shouldn't she be practicing? And, Is it cool to like smooth jazz?

Get the answers to these and all your burning questions about the Amador Valley High School Jazz Bands at a planning and information meeting on October 30, 2007, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Choir Room.

Our Jazz Band instructors, Mr. Aubel and Mr. Grantham will present information on the jazz band schedule of events and provide information on the jazz classes at AVHS.

Carl and Marilyn Palowitch will present plans for the 33rd Annual Campana Jazz Festival (aka CJF33) which will be held at Amador on Saturday, February 9, 2007. This year CJF33 will host up to 40 middle and high school jazz ensembles!

All Jazz Band parents are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting for important updates on our year in jazz, to meet each other and be a great community of supporters for our jazz bands, and to become involved in the Campana Jazz Festival.

Not a Jazz Band parent? You are welcome to join the legions of fans of the Amador Valley Jazz Bands and come to the meeting, too! Perhaps you have a son or daughter interested in the Jazz Bands for next year. This is a great meeting to become more informed about the Jazz program and to talk with jazz band parents and faculty.

We are looking forward to a full house on October 30th. At the end of the meeting, please plan to stay and join us in the stadium to watch the final run-through of the Marching Band.
