One or two parents are needed for some early a.m. fittings for new members in both Wind Ensemble I and Wind Ensemble II in the next couple of weeks. Both groups will be wearing the same concert attire as the Wind Ensemble last year so if your son or daughter is a returning member there is nothing new to buy. Information regarding cost and collecting payment for this uniform will be coming soon. Please contact Mr. Grantham at jgrantham@pleasanton.k12.ca.us if you are able to do some measuring. You will not be responsible for collecting money or placing the order.

*** Amador Friends of Music Meeting

There will be an AFM meeting this Thursday, Sept. 6, at 7:00 pm in the band room.
All band parents are encouraged to attend. This is your opportunity to ask questions and get the details on upcoming events. AFM General Membership Meetings will be held "every other" month on the first Thursday of the month throughout the school year.

Also, if you ordered any purple clothing at band registration, it will be available for pick-up following the meeting. I hope to see all of you there.

field trip Greetings Amador Marching Band Parents!

*** Jason Briggs

As you know, we have two back-to-back weekend trips to LA this marching season: BOA Regionals on November 9 - 11 and the WBA Championships on November 16 - 18.

Both events are being held at East LA College in Monterey Park. The band will be staying at Embassy Suites in Downey CA on both weekends, which is about 10 miles from the competition venue.

The hotel is holding back an extra 25 rooms for non-RA parents at the same $119 / night rate as the band. This includes a cook-to-order breakfast. These extra rooms will be held up to 30 days before each weekend. This year we are asking interested parents (not RAs) to contact the hotel directly to reserve a room for these events. Let them know that you are an Amador band parent and want a room at the $119 rate given to the band. Note that we can have more than 25 rooms at this rate, but they would only guarantee the additional 25.

There also may be a limited number of rooms available for $109 / night using the internet, so you might want to give this a try as well.

Rooms for RAs have already been purchased. RAs only should not contact the hotel directly, but will need to make checks payable to AFM and send them to me at the address below. As I do not yet know how these rooms are being distributed among the RAs and over the two weekends, I will follow up with details for RAs at a later date.

Veteran parents know what a blast it is to be a part of these events. Freshmen moms and dads (brothers and sisters, too), don't miss this chance to see your kids complete and see how Amador stacks up against some of the best bands in the region. Get decked out in your purple garb and make some noise. The band (and the judges) can see and hear you!

If you want to book a room, contact Embassy Suites Downey at 562-861-1900. Please book as soon as possible as the rooms will not be held after October 9. The more the merrier.

*** Health News:
Trish Moosbrugger

After hearing that many of you were unable to download health forms,
we've contacted the district office and will have the following forms available at the AFM meeting on Sept 6 and at the RA table at the BBQ:

*Prescription and OTC Med Consent Form:
(New district policy.....must turn in this form to the Band if you
want your child to have access to any meds, including Tylenol, etc, on Band bus trips).

*Contract to Carry Life Sustaining Meds :
for students who must carry Inhaler, EpiPen, Insulin, etc. (This is a brand new form....previous version was specifically for inhalers...either old or new version is ok this year.)

Any questions, contact Trish Moosbrugger, pmoosbrugger@comcast.net.

*** RA News
Trish Moosbrugger

volunteers needed:
*RAs are being scheduled via email this week for events through Oct 12, and for the two LA trips. New RAs are always welcome and football games are the perfect time to "learn the ropes". Contact Trish Moosbrugger,
pmoosbrugger@comcast.net, to be added to the RA email distribution list.

*Position available: Water Master
Organize a couple of parents to
collect, wash, fill, and chill the squirt bottles each week and provide a bunch of ice for the big water coolers. Believe it or not, one of our biggest challenges is "watering the band" while they're in uniform. Think 230 thirsty performers with 2 minutes to have a few sips of water between warm-up and show-time. No purchases are necessary to volunteer
for this important job, just regular ice from your freezer and that tasty "Zone 7" tap water. Need one "Master" and 3 or 4 helpers. No
experience necessary!! Contact Trish Moosbrugger, pmoosbrugger@comcast.net.

*** Purple Clothing Orders
Ellen Mc Mahan

All orders can be picked up at the band room this Thursday at the AFM meeting or Friday before the game. If you aren't able to attend either event, please call Ellen McMahon to make arrangements for pick-up. Phone-484-5202 or ellenmcmom@yahoo.com

Thank-you!
