Please note that there is no band practice over Labor Day weekend and we do have our first football game early this year-Friday September 7. Details to follow in next week's newsletter. Hope the first few days of school find everyone getting out the door safely and happily.

With two events in LA this year, I will be looking for resaurants near the LA coliseum from which we can order/cater some of our meals. Any suggestions from those who know the area?
*** Road Warriors Wanted! Steve Ethier
As "Top-o-the-Heap, The Big Cheese, The Buck Stops Here, Big Diesel, Almighty Sir King" Head Road Warrior this year, I welcome one and all to join the Road Warrior crew for the 2007 Marching Band season. My recruitment of new Road Warriors during the freshmen parent meeting was very successful and I thank all of you who have signed up (including some husband and wife teams!). One can never have too many Road Warriors for a given season and I would be pleased to welcome anyone else who wants to join us. Keep in mind that you are not required to be a Road Warrior at every football game or marching competition, any help at any time is appreciated.
Road Warrior duties include, and are not limited to, loading/unloading band equipment from the trailer and/or moving truck(s), helping RAs, getting the pit and sound equipment onto/off of the football field.
I would also appreciate hearing from any veteran Road Warriors who are interested in participating once again.
Send me an email at slethier_908@yahoo.com if you want to join us or have questions.

*** Tuesday Evening Snacks Sainaz Dana
As is our custom, we would like to provide treats for the students on Tuesday nights following band practice. Janice Maurer and Laurel Stjern will be coordinating the weekly donation of cupcakes, cookies, brownies, donuts, grapes, etc. If you would like to bring treats for the kids on any particular Tuesday night, please contact Janice Maurer at jmaurerca@aol.com. We can always use donations of hot chocolate packets, hot cups, spoons, and napkins which can be dropped off in Mr Grantham's office or brought to my house at 1882 Cortez Court in Pleasanton.
*** Electricians and Fabricators Wanted! Steve Ethier
The band's "man in the back with the screwdriver" graduated last year so we need one or more individuals who are willing to help the band with electrical and fabrication work when needed, usually when we figure out something is broken while loading equipment for a competition and occasionally during a competition. For example, there have been times where the trailer wiring on the rental truck is not functioning properly and we have done a quickie repair job on the truck before leaving Pleasanton. I would love to have a list of people I could call to help fix this type of problem if it were to occur. There are also times when we need to get things fabricated. For example we are currently in need of a person to do some fabrication work on one of the trailer's electrical junction boxes to cover some exposed wiring connectors.
Send me an email at slethier_908@yahoo.com if you are willing to help with this request.
*** ATTENTION STUDENTS- Uniform Fittings Kimberly Ansell
Due to the tremendous growth in the band program, additional uniforms have been ordered. Our trouser order is due to arrive this week which should allow for everyone to be fitted an issued bibber trousers. Affected students will be pulled out of band class individually.
Trousers will need to either be hemmed by hand at home or sent to a qualified seamstress or drycleaner for hemming. A list of qualified vendors is included with your contract and can be found on the website. Uniform pants are NEVER to be cut for ANY REASON!
Uniform contracts will need to be completed and returned to Mr. Grantham no later than the evening of final inspection (date TBD).
While we await shipment on the remainder of the order, students will be required to wear their bibber overalls, band T-shirt, black socks and marching shoes to all events.
A full band inspection will take place in October to confirm a complete and proper fitting uniform for each student. Please watch for a special announcement from Mr. Grantham as to that date and time.
Thank you for your patience.
Please contact Kimberly Ansell, Uniform Coordinator 2006-2007, at kimberlyansell@comcast.netor 925-484-2847 if you should have any questions.
