Spring Collage is Coming!

Spring Collage, Opus II is here!
Plan on enjoying us at the Amador Theater on Monday May 21 at 7:00 p.m. for this year-end closing performance that is one not to miss. If you made it last year you know it is unlike any other concert you have attended. You won't believe music this good is free!

Attention alumni/band parents performing with the wind ensemble on May 21st:
Please plan on attending a brief rehearsal at 5:00 p.m. in the AVHS band room. The rehearsal will last no longer than an hour and will give us the time to work on the two pieces we are playing. The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. in the theater and I will invite you to stage to join the wind ensemble at the appropriate time during the program. Dress is causal to nice for the alumni/band parents. Thanks for playing!

No hassle - Turn in volunteer forms now!
You may be aware that the R.A.'s, led by Trish Moosbrugger, are holding a contest in each of the band/colorguard classes to collect district volunteer clearance forms. The winning class gets a free day and a pizza party.

These are being turned in now for the 2007-2008 school year. The forms used to be in the registration packet and it was your responsibility to take them to the office. Not anymore! By filling out this form, it will be turned in for you and clears you on all campuses for the entirety of next year.

Auditions upcoming:
Auditions for Wind Ensemble I and Wind Ensemble II will take place during class time, at lunch and after school the week following Memorial Day. Section leader interviews will begin June 4 and jazz band auditions will be held the week of June 4 as well. More information to come on the jazz date and time.

Spring Awards date change:
Due to a conflict with the Competition Civics awards presentation, the band awards night has been moved to Monday June 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Amador Multi-Purpose Room. This semi-formal year end celebration recognizes the contributions of each band member and salutes the outstanding class of 2007 one last time as members of our band program.




AFM General Meeting Tomorrow!

reminderThere will be an AFM General Meeting tomorrow evening (Thursday, May 17) at 7 pm in the band room.

During the meeting we will be reveiwing next year's budget and voting on a slate of officers for the AFM Board of Directors.


Marching Band DVD Available for Purchase at AFM General Meeting
(and possibly Spring Collage)

dvd imageI will be selling the Marching Band DVD before and after the AFM General Meeting on Thursday. The price is $10 per DVD. Checks should be made payable to "Amador Friends of Music". I will also accept exact change if you prefer to pay in cash. As a reminder, this DVD covers the 2005 and 2006 marching band seasons.

I will also sell the DVD at the Spring Collage concert if I do not sell the remaining copies at the General Meeting.

Pizza Party Contest!

pizza partyThe Band RAs are sponsoring a contest among the band class periods. The class that turns in the most Parent Volunteer Forms this week will win a Pizza Party to be held during class. Students received forms this week in class, or you can download forms from the band website:

Last day of contest is Friday, May 18!

Fun Facts about Parent Volunteer Forms:
*New district form does NOT require SS#.

*PUSD will be centralizing the parent volunteer list this year. Fill out one form for all parents and students in your household (include names and schools of siblings) and you will be covered for all volunteer activities at all schools for the entire 2007-2008 school year.

*Help your student win a Pizza Par
