Outstanding Volunteers - We Say Thank You! thanks

Jon Grantham

This past weekend the Amador Winterguard traveled to Dayton, Ohio for the Winterguard International World Championships. The team had a solid run in preliminary competition but did not advance to the semi-finals round (there are over 150 teams in their division competing for 36 spots!)

Two guard parents chaperoned on the trip and were a HUGE asset in seeing
that our great kids were fed, checked in and tucked in for 5 weather
challenging days in Dayton. Mari Terhune and Chris Smith were fantastic in every way and the students and I appreciate all of their time and energy in taking care of all of our needs!

MOM: Amador, you are magic!

With the glow from the Magic of Music still strong I would like to take a moment to say thank you to all of those who supported the event by giving of volunteer time, services, items or attendance at the event. I have said repeatedly that as an organization we are developing ourselves as a role model program for others to emulate from the students to the parents and now to include the fundraising efforts. I am humbled and indebted to all of you for your support of the band program at Amador Valley.

Special recognition to Dianne Jones for a herculean effort in pulling all of the details together on such a huge event!

CMEA Band Festival to feature outstanding Amador
concert groups-coming up April 27-28.

CMEA Band Festival is taking place at CSU East Bay in Hayward next weekend. All three Amador groups are performing. In addition, as a school we are sponsoring this event on behalf of CMEA at the university which means the students provide assistance in running the festival along with key parent volunteers (thank you Victoria Schmidt, Roz Perazzo and Sainaz Dana!).

The Wind Ensemble performs on Friday evening at 8:35 p.m. All Wind Ensemble students will be asked to assist with the festival for a shift of their choosing between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. that day.

The Wind Symphony performs on Saturday at 4:25 p.m. and the Symphonic Band performs at 3:10 p.m. Students in those groups will be asked to assist the festival for a shift of their choosing between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. that day.

All three Amador groups are performing in the university theater and are asked to wear the usual concert dress for the festival. Itineraries will be posted next week in the newsletter. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend - there is no charge.

Congratulations Guard on a great Dayton "performance".

Even though we didn't make Semi-finals, your "performance" was truly outstanding. Many of
the locals commented on how polite and well-mannered our guard was. They were impressed with your behavior, manners and friendly attitude towards them. I was proud to be associated with you all!

Don't forget the Community Performance on Thursday at 7:00. I'll be taking group photos (in their uniform) before the performance, so please make sure the uniform is unpacked before then!
