CONCERT BANDS • Each student is required to work two volunteer shifts split up over the Winterguard show (2/3), Campana Jazz Festival (2/10) or the Magic of Music (3/31). Each student is additionally asked to work a short shift at the CMEA band festival in Hayward on 4/27-28.

• Congratulations to the following students and these recent accolades in local, regional, state and national honors groups:
The following Amador band students on earning spots in the Alameda County Honors Band: Heather Deagen, Alexene Farol, Devin Maguire and Karl Schmidt.
The following students earned spots in the All-Northern (regional) honor band: Sarah Andersson, Karissa Finn, Ryan Fornoles, Erica Miranda, John Palowitch, Jay Ryoo and Teddy Won.
Competing agains over 1,500 applicants from across the state, these Amador band students earned All-State Honors Band spots: Ryan Fornoles, Erica Miranda, Jay Ryoo and Spencer Sussman. John Palowitch earned All-State Jazz Honors for the third year in a row.
Also congratulations to John Palowitch on national honors and recognition as an upcoming member in the Grammy Band and the Bands of America Honor Jazz Band.
These are the highest number of spots Amador has ever earned in each of these groups.
JAZZ BANDS • Upcoming dates: Folsom (itinerary coming out next week on Monday). Approx. time frame will be 12:00 report to AVHS, home 9:30 p.m. Campana is 2/10. All jazz students are involved as performers and volunteers. AFM Meeting Reminder don't forget logo

Potato Bakers Needed: We are selling baked potatoes at the Winterguard show. If you are willing to bake potatoes and bring them to Amador on Feb. 3rd at 4:00 pm. please contact Ginnelle at RGDowdy@sbcglobal.net so that we end up with the right number of potatoes. Directions will be forwarded to you.
Baked Goods Needed: We are selling baked goods package individually for sale. If you are willing to bake cookies, rice crispy treats or anything that can be sold individually and bring them to Amador on Feb. 3rd at 4 pm, please contact Ginnelle at RGDowdy@sbcglobal.net.
Volunteer Opportunities Abound: This is a fun and exciting evening. All band students are required to volunteer a shift so come volunteer a shift with your child and see what these guards can do. Contact Kathleen Nohr at KNohr@ortc.com to volunteer. Wear your purple, gold or black to identify yourself and with the Amador Valley Winterguard. Students will be signing up in the band room.

Come for the AFM general meeting Thursday January 25 at 7:00 pm, and get the second meeting free! The Campana Jazz Festival meeting begins about 8:00 pm. Save time, gasoline and phone-calls! Prevent being pestered by your Campana Chairperson. Learn the latest Campana breaking news, exciting developments for the 2008 Festival and signup for a Volunteer position. The 32nd Annual Campana Jazz Festival is Saturday, February 10th. All AFM parents are encouraged to help create a successful and educational festival for the kids. Show your support of Jazz Education by volunteering a half-day at the Festival. It is a LOT of fun with great people and supporters.
The Volunteer Coordinators are Andrea Holmquist (aholmquist@comcast.net) and Betsy Pickert (bkpickert@comcast.net). They will have sign-up sheets at this Thursday’s 8:00 pm Campana meeting in the Band Room. I would like to send our an enormous Thank You to a group of wonderful "Uniform Angels"! To those of you who forfeited your Saturday afternoon, in cramped, cold conditions - thank you! For your own knowledge - you restocked 172 uniforms in just under 4 hours - that is amazing! You're amazing! See you in August!
