Directors Report
Jon Grantham

Thanks to all of the band families for their flexibility in the schedule changes the last two weeks. The staff and I truly appreciate your efforts in reworking schedules at the last minute. As you can see by our success this season, the practices of course pay great dividends!

Many many congratulations to the entire band family for the great time at the Logan show. The kids are flying high going into championships and I know we are all looking forward to two great performances in Fresno. See you there!
Upcoming information: Our fantastic musicians do not close up shop after marching band is done. We are just getting started. Please mark your calendars for the December 19 Winter Concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Amador Theater. The band concerts are free, open to the public and showcase the amazing talents of our musicians. This will not be one to miss!

Parents-

Please review the directions below to our hotel for Saturday evening. I am excited to report that we will have a record turnout as parents to support our hard working kids. We have 103 rooms at Best Value with an additional 25 at The Best Western located a block away. Please feel free to email roland.ellingsen@comcast.net or call me at (925) 895-1041. Hotel check-in is available after 3:00 PM on Saturday. Please be aware that Saturday @ 11:00 pm will be a full house of kids. Check-in can be delayed for parents.

I will be calling/emailing all parents that are staying at the Best Western by Thursday afternoon. All kids will be located at The Best Value Inn.

Final Note - I will be calling a number of Parents to ask for check-out support on Sunday morning. I will be asking you to check (3) kid rooms before they are dismissed to the bus. This duty should take no more than 10 minutes on Sunday morning.
Thanks, Roland

Come one and all to eat at our last competion!!!
Joni Hirth

Saturday evening around 5:30 our kids will be treated to pizza brought to them by our wonderful bus drivers. There will be enough for all...but we are asking adults to contribute $5 to help with the cost of the pizza. There will also be salad and beverages for all to enjoy.

Sunday afternoon (time to be determined by our finals time slot) we will enjoy a Mexican fiesta...tacos, enchiladas, rice, beans...I am getting hungry just writing this down. All are welcome...this meal is being provided by AFM for the band students ($5.00 for all others) ....so eat up!! Hope to see you all there.

Grubmaster needs help!!!
Joni Hirth

Since this is my last year and my daughter is graduating, I will sadly be stepping down from my grubmaster duties. Dana has agreed to help, but she is very involved with RA'ing at this time. SO... I need some help on Saturday and Sunday in Fresno. All the food is arranged for and purchased. It would mean setting up tables, setting out food, collecting money and then cleaning up. If non-senior parents are available and can lend a hand, please send me an email at hirthgang@sbcglobal.net and I will give out some jobs. I appreciate all hands!!! Thanks, Joni

Any Volunteers to Save Seats!!!
Senior Band Parents

The senior parents have one last request for non-senior parent volunteers. Since there will be a Senior Ceremony that should last until 6:45 on Saturday and a Senior Recognition Dinner before the finals competition on Sunday, the senior band parents are worried that we will end up on the bottom row of the 5 yard line (as many of us did at Logan) to see their student's final performance with the band. Are there any non-senior parents who will be in the stands early enough to save seats for the senior parents attending the ceremonies?

Greetings Roadsters:
Paul Walker

The warm glow of the Band's peformance at Logan has not even begun to cool, yet the Roadies must now turn back and face the future, namely our Band's Fresno trip. This promises to be a great exclamation point on an already great season.

Here are a few key times for all Roadies to etch in the collective memory:

Noon Saturday - we will load the trucks and trailers, right after the Band's final run-through
1-1:15 Saturday - trucks depart, about an hour ahead of the buses
4-430 - arrive Clovis (Buchanan High School), unload and set-up camp.
7-7:30 - all Roadies on hand to help with roll-on/roll-off (except those parents of seniors, who are planning to sit in the stands!)
Band performs at 8! Then roll-off, commence re-load.

After this, the schedule is dependent on how the Band places into finals which commence the next day and run through the afternoon. Roadies should assume final loading of the trucks for return trip around 5-6 Sunday PM and return travel thereafter. Definitely need a good handful of helpers for the unload (the FINAL UNLOAD OF THE YEAR!) back at Amador 10:30 PM Sunday night.

Thanks in advance to all road warriors for your help with this show, and with all the other band events this year. We will have several new Roadies stepping up this week to support the show while us parents of seniors take in the show from the stands. Thanks, folks for answering the call. Special thanks to John McWilliams, winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Roadie Excellence and Generally Superior Know-How. John has been a Road Guy for...well, for a long time. His experience and savvy has often made the difference between simply good and totally great Roadiness. Make sure you toast him sometime Saturday night! I know I will!

So, off we go, one last Amador Band Road Adventure. Here's to safety, fun, success, and to making some more great memories with and for our kids.

Let your Holiday Shopping help AFM!
Laura Keller-Gum

Hey holiday shoppers, did you know you can earn rebates for AFM and your student account every time you buy gifts at participating merchants? It doesn't cost you a thing! Let your holiday giving benefit AFM by making sure your credit cards are signed up with www.escrip.com and that you do your on-line shopping through the "On-Line Mall" at www.escrip.com. You can even download tracking software that automatically credits the rebates every time you shop on-line, so you don't have to keep track of which merchants are eScrip participants! (eScrip keeps your information safe and secure and does not share or sell information about your shopping choices). Of course, your Safeway grocery shopping is our biggest source of eScrip revenue, so remember to register your Safeway card if you haven't already done so! In addition, please consider registering credit cards or using eScrip's on-line shopping tools to help AFM earn even more from this no-cost fundraiser! Questions?
