Road Warriors Head to LA Paul Walker
So, my Roadie Mates, here we go, down the 5 to the Big Show at Los Angeles. What a great thrill for our band kids to have this opportunity to perform, compete, and have a blast on one of the biggest stages in the business. Waaaay cool.
Of course, behind every awesome band is a committed bunch of humble freight luggers - that's where we come in. Here's the drill for this week for us Roadie types:
Thursday Night, 7 PM - we are going to load the truck and trailers the night before departure, so that Steve "Big Diesel" and I can get the jump on traffic early the next day. Six or eight Roadies with particular load-building skill are the types for this evening duty. See you around the Band Room to load 'er up.
Friday - Roll-out. Truck and trailer leave in the AM to get over the grapevine and into the hotel at a sane hour.
Saturday - Competition day: we will roll the equipment over to the Coliseum at about 8 AM, leaving the hotel about an hour before the band. This will give us time to unload, set-up the staging camp and scope out the general situation. Please refer to the itinerary for the day on the band web site. The band's prelim performance is at 12:15 PM, so Roadies need to be alert and on the prowl around 11:30 AM to help move the band onto the field. After performance and roll-off, we get a nice break before the finals that evening (schedule TBD on that!), re-loading etc.
It is going to be a terrific weekend. Recommended accessories: hats and sunglasses along with your sunscreen and the purple garment of your choice. See you there, and, as always, call me (H925.846.8784, C510.316.3699) or e-mail me at walkerpcc@comcast.net with questions, comments etc.
Can You Give Me A Lift? Jill Albers
I was wondering if there might be any other parent either traveling alone or maybe wanting some extra company on the trip down to LA. I had not planned on going to BOA, but have recently changed my mind. I don't mind driving, I just don't want to do the drive alone.
If you have some extra space, please contact me at 461-5986 or jsalbers@comcast.net
