Director's Report

Jon Grantham

Amador wow's 'em again!
As the surprise "hit" of the season (no suprise to us though!), the Marching Band and Colorguard turned in another outstanding performance at the Gilroy competition on Saturday. Setting a season high score of 80.00 and earning a 2nd place trophy in the 5A division, Amador had audience appeal and favorable feedback from the judges to stay in the thick of the mid-season push towards WBA championships in November. Additional congratulations to the colorguard and percussion for bringing home 2nd place honors in their repsective cagtegories. Amador enjoys a deserved weekend off for homecoming and hits the road on Friday October 27 at 4:00 p.m. for the Bands of America regional in Los Angeles.

FOOD AT BOA!!!
Joni Hirth

A pasta lunch will be available for all on Saturday Oct 28th after our 1st performance that day... there will be a selection of salad, bread and 3 pastas for all to enjoy. We will ask a $5.00 donation from kids and adults alike in order to offset the cost. Please bring that money with you and it will be collected as you select your food. The restaurant has gotten rave reviews from the Los Angeles locals.....so don't miss out....Remember that $5.00!!!!!!!!!

I need your help!! I need volunteers who can fit 1 or 2 ice chests in their cars on the way down to Los Angeles. There is very little room on the busses and we need to transport sodas and snacks down to the competition.

I will bring sodas/snacks over and fill your ice chests..( no ice) and then if you could transport them..that would be super. Once we arrive at the Embassy Suites and the kids unpack ...we can store the ice chests under the bus and stage them for ice on Saturday morning. You will then need to collect them Saturday night/ Sunday morning and take them back home.

Please call me at 426-9069 or email me at hirthgang@sbcglobal.net if you can help me out with this task!! Much thanks....Joni Hirth

RA News
Trish Moosbrugger

Thank you for the great response for the November events. We still have need of a few more bus/event RAs for Nov 11 at Logan HS and for the Nov 18-19 trip to Fresno for the championships. No one will have to miss the show, so don't let that stop you from volunteering. Contact Trish if you'd like to sign up for one or both of those bus trips.

Snacks for the bus trip:

The RAs would welcome donations of healthy, individually wrapped snacks for the BOA trip. Snacks should be able to travel well in the luggage compartment of the bus. They will be part of the overall food plan being arranged for competition day. Granola and cereal bars are a good example (and they are on sale at Safeway this week!). No cookies or other sweets, please. Students can bring them to the football game or to the band room any day next week. Thanks in advance. Any questions, contact Trish.

Update from the Band Webmaster
Emmie Stenstedt

The web site has been updated! Updates will continue. Let me know if you find mistakes.

The forms for Magic of Music can be downloaded from the web. Staff pictures are mostly loaded.

A large number of pictures have been loaded. Some browsers might get a generic pop up box asking for a username and password when accessing the SnapJot site (SnapJot’s still in beta release with its service). If you get that just type in snapjot as the username and realsoonnow as the password. All of the pictures can be downloaded in full resolution. Downloading is free, but you will need to register your email with snapjot.

We're looking for more pictures, video of the show, and write ups to add.

Repeat of Saturday's Special News Flash
Here is a repeat of Saturday's special newsflash for those of you who missed the information last week about the changes to the band website, a description of a new service we are being offered from Snapjot.com, and our desire for many photos.

We Need Your Photos!
If you are one of the many parents taking pictures at the competitions - We would love to have your photos! We would like to use them on the band website, in our publicity, in our newsletter, and in our band yearbook.

If you are willing to share, please email your photos to our webmaster, Emmie Stenstedt, at estenstedt@yahoo.com, or better yet, deliver your pictures to her via photo CD through Mr. Grantham.

Please read a message below from Emmie about an additional opportunity AFM has to publish our photos!

Offer from Snapjot.com

We are collecting digital photos. The pictures we upload will be accessible through the band web site , may be used in the band yearbook, and may be used for fundraising. The photos will be downloadable, in full resolution, and without cost. Snapjot.com is donating $300 to the band and helping us accomplish this. If albums are purchased through Snapjot, a portion will be donated back to the band.

Please send your favorite pictures to estenstedt@yahoo.com, or give Emmie Stenstedt (Sophia Dunworth's mom) a CD, or get a CD to Mr. Grantham and he will forward it. Check back at the band website, www.amadorband.org, toward the end of October to look at pictures.

Thank you very much, Linda and Emmie
