Director's Report
Jon Grantham Congratulations! It is good to be a Don! After coming off a successful weekend at Modesto (sweepstakes anyone?) the marching band and colorguard are working towards their next competition at Gilroy High School. The band takes the field last in 5A at 9:00 p.m. The parent turnout at the Modesto show was "FAN"TASTIC. Can't wait to see the sea of purple on Saturday. Come one, come all and bring your cheering voices.
Please note the later start time on Saturday. This is due to SAT testing being held on Amador's campus. The band can't play until after the testing is done. The break is 90 minutes instead of 2 hours so please plan accordingly. The band does get to sleep in!
SCHEDULE UPDATE: Due to homecoming skits on Tuesday 10/17, practice has been moved to MONDAY 10/16 still from 5-9 p.m.
A reminder that on Monday October 30, the band will be practicing from 5-9 instead of on Tuesday October 31.
Congratulations!
Thom Kato Wow! What a great start to this year's Marching Band and Color Guard season! The show is fantastic and the performances all around were exciting and well done. A huge Thank You to the many parents who worked as Responsible Adults and Road Warriors to be sure that students, instructors, and all the stuff that goes along were well taken care of. Good job! Finally, but not at all least, I'd like to acknowledge and thank Mr. Grantham and his outstanding staff of instructors. They have really done a job with our students.
The Amador presence in the grandstands was amazing! Let's all be sure to continue to show our support at this week's competition in Gilroy. See you there!
District Funding Meeting
Thom Kato This Thursday (10/12) at 5:30 at Village High School, Room 502 will be the second meeting to discuss and prioritize the allocation of special one-time funding and some on-going funding for Music, Art, and PE. Please come and support the allocation of some of this funding for music programs at all grade levels in the District. Please see the September 23rd special newsletter for details.
At last week's meeting, teachers, administrators, and parents worked in groups (Music, Arts, and PE) and developed lists of needs for their respective programs. I think a good list was put together with a guiding philosophy that this special funding should be allocated equitably among all three areas. But there will be a lot of competing ideas for how to spend this money. A fair allocation to music programs could substantially improve music education at all grade levels. Please come and show your support -- your presence will count!
