Competition Snack Schedule Lilia Knight
Calling All Band Students,
For three of the listed competitions (shows) this marching band season I’ve split the band by sections. Note the designated sections are responsible for bringing snack on their assigned date for after the performance. The snacks consist of bringing either 1 package of store bought cookies or 1 pound of washed grapes, stems removed and in a plastic zip bag please. Check the list below for your section’s date. Remember to mark your calendar!
You are to bring your cookies or grapes to the band room on your assigned show date and place them in the appropriate, marked box or cooler.
Parents please help your student(s) remember assigned date. Note the schedule listed below.

BOA Ticket Orders Marilyn Palowitch
67!!! That’s the number of tickets ordered so far for folks planning to attend BOA. What a great turnout! If you have already placed your orders, you should have received an email from me, confirming your order. If you did not, please call me asap. (Marilyn, 426-7223)
If you still want to get in on the group order, now’s the time! All orders must be received by this Friday, October 6.
To order, go to the parent section of the amador band website,click on downloadable forms, and print the PDF file named BOA ORDER FORM. Fill in all the information, write a check for the appropriate amount – payable to MARILYN PALOWITCH – and mail this to me at 6923 Corte Madrid, Pleasanton, CA 94566. Remember, orders and checks must be received by October 6 to be included in this group order. Alternatively, orders and payment can be turned into Mr. Grantham; or placed under my doormat.
If for any reason you cannot print the PDF file, the information needed with your order is as follows.

If you miss the October 6 deadline, you may still purchase tickets through TicketMaster, BOA website (group orders) and on the day of the event (possibly a bit higher price).

Fundraising Update Dianne Jones
Sales at the Pigskin Roast exceeded our expectations with over $2300 dollars in total sales! I would like to thank Paulette Callahan, Lynn Davidian, and Ann Fischer for their awesome sales support and especially Ellen McMahon for those wonderful Amador clothing items.
Preparation for Magic of Music 2007 has begun! We need everyone's help! Come join the fun and volunteer! The Donations Committee will be having its first meeting Thurs, Oct. 19th at 7Pm at Dianne's house -2824 Foothill Oaks Terrace. Join us for a little work and wine as we prepare for this Magical Event which takes place March 31st at the Pleasanton Hilton. We are beginning earlier this year so that we'll have even more Fabulous Live and Silent Auction items available. Hi all. We know that after the BBQ someone took home the leftover hotdogs to store in their freezer - unfortunately, we don't remember who took them home! Thank you to those who have volunteered for all the October events, we now have full coverage for October, including the trip to LA!.
Our first competiton is this week. Some helpful hints: Clean your shoes, fix your hair, and double check your uniform bag before leaving the house. Go Dons!
Funding for Music, Art, and PE Thom Kato
Hopefully you saw the special notice newsletter about special one-time and on-going funding for Music, Art, and PE being granted by the State to school districts (AFM Newsletter sent Sept 23rd). The point of the meetings is to develop a prioritized list of recommendations for how the funding should be allocated. Please see the Sept 23rd newsletter for details. If you have the time, please try to attend one of the meetings. These meetings will be held 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the District Board Room on October 4th and Room 502 at Village High School on October 12th.

Before leaving for AVHS, ask yourself, “Do I have everything I need to be successful today?”
9:00 Report to attendance block-wear black t-shirt and marching shoes. 1:15 Final run through 1:30 Rehearsal concludes 3:40 Report to attendance block for uniform inspection. DO NOT BE LATE!
* Arrive wearing marching shoes, black socks, marching pants and 2006 shirt * Jacket, gauntlets, gloves in garment bag * Instrument * Change of clothes * Sack dinner
4:15 Load buses (from attendance block) 4:30 Depart AVHS 6:00 Arrive at Johansen High School
* Check-in with section leaders * Move as sections to use restrooms * Eat sack dinner * Change into uniform

This Saturday the AVHS Marching Band and Color Guard take the field at Johannsen High School in Modesto for their first competition this year. I hope everyone can make the trip to hear and see this year's fantastic show and to provide a great cheering section in the stands! Our students have been working really hard, and if you've had a chance to see them at practice you know how great they are! See you Modesto! Wear your purple and gold!
