AFM President's Report

Thom Kato

Welcome BBQ a Great Success!

Please join me in a huge THANK YOU!!! to Kevin Braun and his outstanding BBQ team for organizing a splendid event. The BBQ organizing, grilling, set-up, and clean-up crew was Mike & Laurel Stjern, Doug & Dianne Jones, Carl and Ann Palowitch, Clayton Newman & Nancy McGhee, Cecilia Melby, Laura, Tom, Tate & Ryder Ditto, Dana Sainaz, Mary Jo Thiel, John McWilliams, and the Mystery Mom. A special shout out to Sainaz Dana for buying all the hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, and condiments.

All the salads and desserts were great -- we've got serious food talent in the Band Family. Tori Hirth and the Student Band Council did a great job (thanks parents too) selling sodas and water. They made a pretty penny too!

I hope everyone had a great time seeing and hearing the marching band and colorguard demonstrations and the field show. The students are simply amazing! If you see Kevin and any of the 2006 BBQ crew, please take a moment to thank them for all their hard work.

Band Uniforms

I'd like to take a minute to thank Kimberly Ansell and her team for doing a great job getting the band uniforms distributed, fitted, adjusted, and looking great this year. It was a sea of purple on the field last Friday at the football game, and they all looked great! Thanks, Kimberly for doing an outstanding job.

Did Someone Say "I'd Like to Volunteer?"

Yes, there are many things to be done this year, and we are still looking for some energetic folks to help out on projects throughout the year. Come to the AFM General Membership meeting this Thursday at 7:00 to learn more. See you there!

* hot chocolate
* cups
* baked goods
* napkins
* plastic spoons

If you would like to volunteer, please contact me, Sainaz Dana, at sainazdana@yahoo.com

Donations can be dropped off in the band office.
RA Shirts
Sainaz Dana

All the volunteer RA's for this year are getting a purple polo shirt with their names and the AVHS music logo emboidered on it. Those who want to purchase one will need to send their name and size to me or Kim Ansell, and the cost will range from $20-25 Thanks, Sainaz Dana
Miscellaneous Business

I need 2 more volunteers to help sell Luggage/Instrument/Sports bag tags, dog tags and clothing items and take orders at the Pigskin from approx. 3:30 to 7:30. Please contact me at dodijones@comcast.net if you would like to help.

Thanks to all those who purchased Magic of Music Tickets at the BBQ. Tickets will also be available after the AFM General Meeting on Thurs. Get yours early and enjoy the savings!

Bands of America Tickets
Marilyn Palowitch

Let’s get together in the stands at BOA! I’m coordinating a group ticket purchase for admission to the day’s events. The BOA website states that purchasing tickets in advance, as a group of 15 or more, will spare TicketMaster processing fees or the possibility of paying a higher admission at the door. So, jump in on a great deal NOW!

Tickets are $21 for a combination ticket which includes Prelims and Finals. If you can only attend Prelims OR Finals, the cost is $14 per event. ALL CHILDREN 8 AND YOUNGER ARE FREE! (Do not order a ticket for children 8 and younger.) All tickets for BOA are General Seating. Orders and payments must be made by Friday, October 6.

Here’s how to do it. Go to the parent section of the amador band website,click on downloadable forms, and print the PDF file named BOA ORDER FORM. This should be available on the website later this week!) Fill in all the information, write a check for the appropriate amount – payable to MARILYN PALOWITCH – and mail this to me at 6923 Corte Madrid, Pleasanton, CA 94566. Remember, orders and checks must be received by October 6 to be included in this group order. Alternatively, orders and payment can be turned into Mr. Grantham; please put my name on the envelope.

If for any reason you cannot print the PDF file, the information needed with your order is as follows.

1. Full Name
2. Phone - cell and home
3. Home address
4. Email address
5. Name of your student
6. Number of Combo Tickets ($21 each)
7. Number of Prelim-Only Tickets ($14 each)
8. Number of Finals-Only Tickets ($14 each)

I’m expecting to have received the tickets well-before our departure and will distribute them while still in Pleasanton. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email.
Need a Roommate?
Brian Fletcher

I’m planning on attending BOA either as a chaperone or not; however, it’s likely to be just me; my wife and other daughter won’t be going along. If there are any other “single” dad’s that are planning on going, I’m willing to double-up. Thanks, Brian Fletcher Hm:462-2647 Wk: 737-3514 Cl: 586-9392
Volunteer Needed on October 6th
Steve Ethier

We need to find someone willing to tow the flatbed trailer on October 6th. Unlike the large band trailer, you do use your personal vehicle to tow the flatbed trailer, but AFM will reimburse you for your fuel costs. If you can help us out, please contact Paul Walker at walkerpcc@comcast.net Or Steve Ethier at slethier@pacbell.net (426-2460).
The 2006 annual Barbeque and Potluck was a huge success!!
Kevin Braun

Thank you all for attending our annual BBQ for 2006. It was nice to see all of you to take time out of your busy day and meet your fellow colorguard and band parents. The extra side dishes you all brought, made the event even more special.

A special thanks goes out to all those who helped make the BBQ run smoothly. Without them, this event would never have been possible.

We had a great time serving you and hope to see you again next year.
