| AFM Newsletter Copies of the AFM Newsletter mailings just in case you've misplaced yours. Freshman second Newsletter July Hello Freshman and New to AFM Band Parents!
Here is the second edition of the New Parent Newsletter...It is already that time... August...Band Camp, Uniform Fitting Days, Mini Camp, Freshman Parent Meeting, ... are almost upon us. Please don't be overwhelmed! As you will see from this edition ... there are many supportive parents in this organization that are volunteering their time to help you and your band student have a wonderful experience this year. The first note is from our phenomenal President of the Board for AFM.
From the Board President:
Greetings and welcome to the Amador Band family!
The award-winning Amador High School Band program is composed of several elements including Marching Band and Color Guard, Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, Winter Guard, and Winter Percussion.
My name is Thom Kato and I'm this year's President of the Amador Friends of Music. AFM is a non-profit parent group that supports the Amador band program in a multitude of ways. I invite each of you to contribute your talents and time to helping provide our students with an outstanding education in musicianship, leadership, and teamwork. I remember when our eldest son joined band as a freshman and how exciting it was to see him perform in the Marching Band. I also remember being bewildered at all that seemed to be going on to support the band, not only in the fall, but throughout the year. So I know that the work that Carol Ghinazzi is doing to help welcome you to the world of band is fantastic and we all can't thank her enough. I would also invite each of you to contact me at any time if you have questions or ideas. The best way to reach me is at my email which is thom.kato@comcast.net. Again, welcome to the Amador Valley High School Band program and to AFM.
With warmest regards,
Thom Kato
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following is an introduction to just a few of the many dedicated AFM volunteers and a description of the positions they hold which help you and your student while participating in the Amador Music Program.
The Amador Friends of Music Board of Directors is comprised of five elected positions with as many as four additional appointed positions. The Board meets monthly and meeting dates will be listed on the website calendar. The 2006-2007 AFM Board of Directors are:
President -- Thom Kato.thom.kato@comcast.net. The President is the spokesperson for AFM, presides over AFM meetings, and is responsible for establishing a calendar for the year and developing a budget for membership approval.
1st Vice President, Fundraising -- Dianne Jones. dodijones@comcast.net Dianne is responsible for overseeing fundraising opportunities and acting for the President when necessary. Dianne will be chairing AFM's primary fundraising event, the annual Magic of Music (3/31/07) and you'll be hearing more about it in the coming weeks and months.
2nd Vice-President, Transportation and Logistics -- Roland Ellingsen. rellingsen@thehackettgroup.com Roland ensures that we have transportation for students and equipment to and from each competition as well as lodging for overnight trips. Treasurer -- Paulette Callahan pcallaha@ebmud.com Paulette is responsible for handling the financial affairs of AFM, working with the President to develop an annual budget, and preparing reports for the Board and membership. Secretary -- Linda Ethier slethier@pacbell.net Linda is responsible for all AFM correspondence, prepares notes from Board, General Membership, and Special meetings, and as many if not all of you have seen already, is the magic behind getting out the AFM newsletter.
