This is the first of several informational newsletters that will be coming your way during the next few months. I am the freshman liaison for Amador marching band this year. My role is to help you feel more at ease with adjusting to the world of band. I will be sending out information specific to the newer members of our marching band family. You will also be getting the AFM Newsletter which will have information relevant to all members of the band. If you have any questions regarding the fall marching band program, please feel free to call or e-mail me. If I do not have an easy answer, I will do my best to put you in touch with the person who does.

Information Distribution
Information about the Amador band can be found on the Amador band web-site. This site has the calendar with important dates which will be relevant to you and your child during the upcoming weeks and months. Please be sure to check the site regularly. http://amadorband.org
Watch for the Amador Friends of Music weekly newsletter distributed by e-mail which keeps you up to date with very important information about the band, dates and events The subject line will read AFM NEWSLETTER.
Once your child is at band camp and the school season has started, information will be given to them regularly on the white board in the band room. Mr. Grantham makes every possible attempt to make sure the students have relevant information in a timely manner.
Mr Grantham is very accessible. He can be reached at either the band room or his e-mail address. He is on his summer schedule but is in and about this summer. Send him an e-mail or leave a message on the band answering machine and he will get back to you as soon as possible.

Reminder from Mr. Grantham
The music for the Fall field show has been distributed to all instrumental members. Students will be tested on this music during band camp! The freshmen and new students are required to come prepared with the music “ The Yard” and “Riot” on freshman band camp day, Thursday, August 17th
Fees The participation fees for the Fall 2006 marching season were voted on and approved at the Spring general membership meeting. The Fall Participation fee of $775.00 will be due at registration in August. This fee includes transportation and hotel costs for two overnight trips.( BOA Competition in October and Championships in November).. In addition, each member new to the marching band will be fitted and charged for marching band shoes during uniform fitting days. This $30.00 will be charged to your student account
Important Dates!
Wednesday, August 16th Parent Meeting There will be a meeting for the parents of our freshman and new band members on Wednesday, August 16th at 7:00 P.M. This is the night before freshman band camp. A presentation will be given with general and specific information about what you might expect during band camp and the upcoming marching season Mr. Grantham , representatives from the student band council and members of our AFM board will be available to answer questions you might have. Please plan to attend. This will be strictly a relaxed and informational meeting. You will not be asked to volunteer for anything!
Thursday, August 17th Freshman Pre-Camp Freshman Pre-Camp 9:00 A.M.- 4:00 P.M. This is an orientation day for freshman and students new to the marching band. Mr. Grantham and band leadership will provide an essential introduction to these students in order to prepare them for the following week of band camp.
Thursday, August 17th Marching Uniform Fittings The Freshman will be fitted for their marching uniforms at designated times on Thursday following pre- camp. Information regarding times will be forthcoming. Information regarding Color Guard costume fitting information will be given out by Mr. Grantham at a different time and date later in the season.
Friday, August 18th and Saturday, August 19th Mini-Camp This is Marching Band mini Camp. Camp on Friday is from 9-5. Camp on Saturday, is 9-9. Please let Mr. Grantham know if there is any conflict with this. This is an essential part of the marching season preparation.
August, 21 through August 26 9AM to 9PM Band Camp This week is required and absolutely essential for your student to attend. Music and drill will be worked on throughout the week. Dates and times are posted on the Amador Calendar. It is a very full week. More information will be coming in future newsletters.
Marching Band Rehearsal Please note that marching band rehearsals are every Tuesday from 5:00-9:00. See the calendar for details.!
Friday, October 27th and Saturday October 28th and Sunday October 29th Marching Band Bands of America Regional Competition, Destination information will be coming soon.
Saturday, November 18 and Sunday November 19th Marching Band Championships @ Fresno State Culmination of the Marching Band Season.. This is the weekend of Thanksgiving break. Please make sure that this does not conflict with any travel plans.Preliminary competition is on Saturdayand Finals competition are on Sunday. Participation by every member of the band and color guard is absolutely essential!
