Scottish Highland Games Volunteer Opportunities: Richard Grotegut
If you are interested in working a four hour shift (8-12, 12-4) at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds on Saturday or Sunday, September 2/3 selling programs, there are still open slots. This is a great way to make money for your student account. Parents and students can both work. You will be provided with admission to the event and a meal coupon, as well as bottled water.
Please email Richard Grotegut at glfam@comcast.net if you are interested. Any family member can work. Questions: 462-3294.
someone's missing Help! Missing Freshmen: Linda Ethier
We have several new freshmen on our roster with no contact information. We are unable to contact them about band camp or registration. If you know any of these students, could you please ask them to contact me at slethier@pacbell.net. We don’t want anyone left in the dark!

Volunteer to be an "RA" (Responsible Adult): Trish Moosbrugger:
I'd like to encourage all band parents to turn in their volunteer background check forms at band registration. They can choose to sign up to chaperone an event as their schedule allows from week to week, but we want to beat the back to school rush to have all our parents approved prior to our first event in September.
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to be a Responsible Adult please contact Trish Moosbugger at pmoosbrugger@comcast.net.
Uniform Fitting: Kimberly Ansell
A complete uniform will need to be assembled and inspected prior to performing at the first football game on Friday, September 15th. A full band inspection will take place that evening to confirm a complete and proper fitting uniform.
Uniform fittings are to be held on Wednesday, August 16th from 4-7:30 pm and Thursday, August 17th from 5-8. pm. This is conveniently following Section Leader Training and Freshmen Band Camp.
Each student will be responsible for their own uniform for the entire marching season. They need to be stored safely at home and worn/transported to and from each event as specified by Mr. Grantham. This policy is explained in the “Marching Band Student Information Letter 2005-2006” which was distributed with your registration packet. This is a recent policy change which requires a large degree of responsibility by each student. Missing or damaged pieces will be charged directly to the student’s account.
Directly following your uniform fitting appointment, your pants will need to either be hemmed by hand at home or sent to a qualified seamstress or drycleaner for hemming. A list of qualified vendors is included with your contract. Uniform pants are NEVER to be cut for ANY REASON!
A shoe order will be placed for all incoming freshmen as well as students who need replacement shoes. A fee of $30.00 will be charged the student account at that time.
The uniform contract will need to be signed and returned to Mr. Grantham’s office no later than Friday, September 15th or turned in at inspection.
If you should have any questions or comments about this process, or should require additional information, please contact Kimberly Ansell at KimberlyAnsell@comcast.net or 925-484-2847.
Uniform Fitting Volunteers Needed! Kimberly Ansell
Volunteers are needed to help fit students for their Marching Band uniforms. A complete uniform will need to be assembled prior to performing at the first football game on Friday, September 15. A full band inspection will take place that evening to confirm a complete and proper fitting uniform. Uniform fittings are to be held on Wednesday, August 16th from 4-7:30 pm and Thursday, August 17th from 5-8 pm.
The schedule for fittings is as follows:
Wednesday, August 16th
* 4:00-5:00 pm - Section Leaders and Seniors * 5:00-6:30 pm - Juniors * 6:30-7:30 pm - Sophomores
Thursday, August 17th
* 5:00-6:00 pm - Freshmen with last names A-G * 6:00-7:00 pm - Freshmen with last names H-R * 7:00-8:00 pm - Freshment with last names S-Z
The process is easy- just fit each student with a jacket, a pair of bib overalls, the proper size shoe, ensure the student drops by the “pinning station” to mark the hem in the pants, fit them with a shako, collect a pair of gloves (if necessary), gauntlets, and fill-in the contract. Voila! Please contact Kimberly Ansell at KimberlyAnsell@comcast.net
