Spring Concerts:
Are you all feeling the stress of the end of the school year? Take 1, 2 or 3 nights next week to unwind and enjoy the talents of the AVHS Music Department. Please read on for more information. Plan on attending the first annual Amador Valley High School Instrumental Music Collage Concert, Opus I (our new name for the spring concert!)
With a wide variety of small and large ensembles, soloists and an entertaining array of musical styles, please plan on being in the Amador Theater by 7:00 p.m.on May 23rd. This concert will not be one to miss as we celebrate a year's worth of music making with the outstanding musicians of Amador Valley High School! As usual, there is no admission charge-come one, come all. There are special surprises in store, including the recognition of our senior musicians who take the stage for the final time. May 24th will provide an opportunity for soloists and small ensembles to participate in the Chamber Ensemble Concert to be held in the band room at AVHS starting at 7:00 p.m. There is no admission and the program will run approximately an hour. On May 25 the ensembles under the direction of Mr. Mark Aubel will be providing another outstanding evening of entertainment at Valley Community Church. Ensembles performing include the choral groups, the orchestra and Jazz A.
Next Year’s Schedule: WBA championships information!
An important note - WBA championships are a two-day competition format for next fall.
This was a decision recently passed by the WBA executive board which means preliminary competition will be on Saturday evening and finals will be on Sunday afternoon.
Please take a close look at your holiday travel plans to make sure that your band student will be present for both prelims and finals.
On the heels of our 11th place finish in finals last year we are poised to make big strides this next season and having everyone on the field for finals is the goal. The band for next year is now numbering almost 210 people!
Student Participation in Magic of Music – Ann Fischer
The final tally is in, and the amount made from the band student donations was $3,245.00! Thanks to the 86 students who participated by donating time or goods for this fabulous event. A special thank you to the seniors who donated, though you won't see the results of your donations, know that the rest of the band appreciates what you did to help them in the years to come. To everyone, great job, and it's never too early to start thinking about next year!
Thank you, Mrs. Fischer, student donations
