2007 Marching Band DVD Still Available
Steve Ethier
I know that many of you will be shocked, shocked you will be, to learn that I have not yet sold all the DVDs in stock. What does this mean? It means I'm still selling these hotcakes! Yes, you too can own a copy, or two, or three, of the DVD for only $10 per copy.
Favorable reviews continue to pour in. I recently heard someone say "This DVD is so hot! If it was any hotter, the federal government would be all over him for contributing to global warming!". I ask you, where else can you purchase a DVD that gets this kind of review?
Rather than have a scheduled time to sell the DVDs this time, I will leave a DVD, or two, or three, on my front porch for you to pick up at your convenience. Simply email me at slethier_908@yahoo.com requesting a DVD, or two, or three, and when you would like to pick it up and I'll have it on my front porch prior to the stated time.
Again, my address is 2298 Camino Brazos. I'm on the western corner of Camino Brazos and Black Ave., between Valley Ave. and Hopyard. We have red roses on a split rail fence around our front yard.
Many thanks to those of you who have already purchased a DVD. All proceeds above the cost of duplicating the DVD are given to the band as a fundraiser.

Well I must have been still recovering from the Magic of Music last week to miss getting a report out, but please allow me to take this opportunity to say "WOW!" and a heartfelt thanks to Dianne Jones and her amazing army of volunteers for putting together a truly special evening. Of course the money raised for the band is just mind- boggling yet again, but the memories made and time shared with music supporters of all stripes was not to be missed!
Amador bands shine at CMEA band festival! On April 25-26 Amador's four concert groups (the most of any school there!) performed at CSU East Bay for a panel of three judges and came back with very high marks! Congratulations to the Symphonic Band on earning Unanimous "Excellent" ratings. Amador's Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble II and Wind Ensemble I all earned Unanimous "Superior" ratings which is the highest rank possible. This means 3 judges in the concert division and 1 judge in the sight-reading division had to agree on giving marks of 90 out of 100 or higher to qualify for the rating. All four groups were commended for their professionalism, preparation, artistry and talent.
Spring concerts fast approaching!
Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony will be performing in concert at the Amador Theater on Monday May 19. Doors open at 6:45 pm. Thank you to band parent Victoria Schmidt for volunteering to be house manager at the theater that evening. We are in need of 4-5 parents who will attend the concert anyway to assist with ushering for the event. You will get to see your child perform! Please e-mail jgrantham@pleasanton.k12.ca.us to let me know if you can help.
Wind Ensemble II, Wind Ensemble I and Jazz "B" will be performing on Tuesday May 20 at Valley Community Church (next to AVHS on Del Valle) - concert beginning at 7pm.
This will be our 3rd Annual Collage Concert featuring soloists, chamber groups and of course the award winning concert groups and jazz band. There will be a small admission price (TBA) at the door to cover the cost of the church rental. More details to follow.
Jazz B to peform at Chabot College with James Logan HS and Chabot College Jazz Bands!
On Wednesday May 14, Jazz B has been invited to close out it's year by sharing the stage with James Logan HS and Chabot College's jazz bands. Students received an itinerary in class last week. Students are to report to Chabot College (in the Performing Arts Center) at 6:00 pm with the doors opening at 7:00 pm for a 7:30 concert. Tickets are available at the door though at this time, prices are unknown (they are typically $7-$10) with proceeds benefitting the Chabot College music program.
