2007 Marching Band DVD Is Now Available

Steve Ethier

I have 75 units in stock. The cost is $10 per DVD. Checks should be made payable to "AFM" . Exact change is required if you want to give me cash.

The DVD can be picked up from me during preset dates and times at my house . My address is 2298 Camino Brazos. We are on the section of Black Ave. that is between Hopyard and Valley. We are on the corner of Camino Brazos and Black Ave. and have red roses on a split rail fence surrounding the front yard.

The first date and time to purchase a DVD is this Saturday 5/3 between 9:00 AM and noon.

Future newsletters will list additional dates and times. I will do this until I run out of DVDs.

The following comments from people watching the DVD preview during the Magic of Music may have been overheard:

Isn't Steve an engineer? I thought engineers were nerds. Who knew that Steve had this artistic side to him? - Man wearing a dark suit

Hon, look at this DVD. Billy Bob Joey says he's in the marching band but I can't find him in the video because the darned kids all look alike in their uniforms. - Woman with a feather in her hair

I didn't know there is free beer in the Speakeasy. That's great! - Man wearing a hat

Yo Dawg! This DVD is the bomb! - Randy somebody

Sweetie, that high school in Bakersfield that the band practiced at on the way to Championships looks pretty good. Let's move from Pleasanton to Bakersfield. - Man wearing black shoes

You move to Bakersfield, the kids and I are staying here. - Woman standing next to man wearing black shoes

Wind Ensemble Uniform Closet
Cherie Stueve

Ask your Wind Ensemble Student: Any special plans for that Wind Ensemble uniform as you venture out into the world from Amador Valley? Will it go to college, backpack in Europe, or collect dust in your closet? Do you need a longer skirt or pair of pants? Lost your necklace?

AFM is starting a Wind Ensemble Uniform Closet. Any clean uniform pieces & accessories can be donated to pass on to other WE students. Donations can be brought to the Stueve house over the summer. Available times & locations to try on pieces in the uniform closet will be announced in August. This is just an option; Mr. Grantham will place the usual order for new uniforms & accessories in the fall.

Spread the word to other WE alumni that those tossed aside uniforms can have a new life! Look for more information about donating uniform pieces in June.

The Amador Friends of Music 4th Annual Fundraiser "The Magic of Music" Was a Roaring Success!
Dianne Jones

My Dear Friends of Music,

It was a magical evening in celebration of our wonderful muscians, new friendships we have made, and to share in the joy of earning much needed funds for the Amador Band and Colorguard.

Although final numbers are still being determined, It looks like we raised around $48,000!!

Without your support and the support of the parents, students, faculty, friends, many wonderful volunteers and generous community members, this would not have been possible.

The friendships we have made, the financial support we will provide, and the joy of giving makes all the hard work worthwhile.

I would like to especially thank all of the committee members and volunteers who helped plan and execute this event, and to the many others who supported the program by donating, attending, and spending their hard earned money (and all those Grantham Bucks!) at the event. Thank YOU!

Thank you to Mr. Grantham and Mr. Aubel for inspiring and teaching all of our students, and finally thank you to our kids who put the sparkle in our eye and the pride in our hearts.
