Sophomore and Freshman parents are lining up to become part of the tradition. Don't miss out on all the fun! Take a look at these remaining positions and let me know if one of them is right for you! Drop me an email, or let me know what you think at the AFM meeting this Thursday night.
"Wheel of Fortune" - Release your inner "Vanna White"! You'll have parent and student helpers. The Wheel will be provided. You will be responsible for formatting the Wheel (templates provided) and solicitating for some more prizes (we already have some) like bottles of wine, gift certificates, coupons etc. You just make sure that Wheel keeps spinnin'! Your job will be finished in plenty of time to enjoy dinner and the live auction.
"Top Teetotaler"- One or two sober night owls needed to supervise late shift students (and plenty of enthusiastic parent helpers) to ensure no valuables are left behind at the Hilton. Attend the event and stay to supervise, or arrive fresh and ready to work at about 10:30pm.
"Emily Post"- Such profuse expressions as "divine," "awfully," "petrified," "too sweet," "too wonderful," are purposely inserted" Emily Post (1873-1960). Etiquette. 1922.
Head up the preparation and distribution of up to 200 Thank You letters to donating businesses. Work can begin before the event and wrap up the week following. Flexible schedule, helpers provided.
Look forward to seeing you all at the AFM meeting on Thursday night! Trish. pmoosbrugger@comcast.net
*** Magic of Music Fun Facts: Trish Moosbrugger
What is Magic of Music (commonly referred to in Band circles as "MOM")?
The Magic of Music is THE annual fundraising event for the Amador Friends of Music. It replaces many smaller fundraisers (candy sales, car washes, etc.) with one Fun night with far greater rewards! It includes an upscale dinner, dancing, silent auction, live auction, raffles, games, and excellent musical entertainment provided by our own students! This is the Fourth Annual Magic of Music, and last year we raised $46,000!
When are the tickets on sale? Now- and last year we had record attendence and had to squeeze a few extra tables into the ballroom. Don't wait to buy your ticket, you don't want to be left out of the fun.
Do I have to dress up? Highly encouraged! It's the least we can do for our kids, who dress in purple sequined band uniforms in front of all their classmates on Friday nights! But, don't head for Nordstrom- pull something out of the back of your closet and save the cash to bid on more great auction items! This year the theme is "Great Gatsby." Wear a dark suit and pick up a cheap Fedora at Boswell's or WalMart , borrow a Flapper dress from your mom or auntie, or wear your favorite cocktail dress with a matching feathered boa!
What Can I Donate? Don't have a lakefront estate in Tahoe? No problem! A gift card or gift certificate from a local shop or restaurant would be wonderful! Or donate scrip better yet! That way you earn money for your students account! Donate a service or item from a business that you work for or own! How about a nice wine basket! The possibilities are endless.

Winterguard improves score, places well on Saturday!
Congratulations to the AVHS Winterguard for improving their score and finishing third in a close contest on Saturday at the Oak Grove show. Good luck to the guard and percussion as both compete this weekend in WGI regionals.
Concert information for Monday 3/17 Wind Ensemble I and Wind Ensemble II will be sharing the stage once again with the HPMS Wind Ensemble and Mr. Paul Perazzo. The concert is at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore. Amador students are asked to report at 6:00 pm in concert dress at the backstage door with the concert starting at 7:00 pm. Doors will open at 6:45 pm for concert goers. Tickets are available at the door for $5.00/ticket (no discounted prices for seniors, students or children). Percussionists and those with large instruments will have separate instructions given Friday in-class for loading and unloading equipment at Amador and the Bankhead on Monday afternoon.
Ushers needed for Monday's concert! Please help usher if you can on Monday at the concert. We had a great crew of parents on hand to help and train at the winter concert. We are in need of 6 adults to help. You get to watch the concert (free!) and are asked to dress nicely (black preffered) and come at 6:00 pm with your students for assignments and a quick refresher. Your contact person will be Carol Edwards in the theater lobby. E-mail at jgrantham@pleasanton.k12.ca.us if you can help!
Check your calendars for April 26 and save the date!
The Magic of Music (M.O.M) is right around the corner. I hope you will be able to join the Pleasanton community and the Amador band family for a night that is not to be missed. With live music (provided by our own jazz bands), dancing, great food and amazing auction items, it is a special night. Without the generous support of this event, the band would be missing a large amount of brand new instruments and equipment and funds would be non-existent for a newly designed marching band uniform (we have $20,000 already saved for this thanks to MOM!). Your support is critical and appreciated. See you at the Hilton on April 26!
* * * * * * * * Winter Percussion @ James Logan HS this Saturday Roland Ellingsen Parents, please join your students this Saturday morning at 7:45 am with departure to James Logan planned at 8:30 am. All band boosters are welcome to see the performance live and take in great shows from a number of groups from throughout the SF Bay Area. Amador will take the floor at 2:00 pm. Parents, please bring a check payable to AFM for the uniforms. The battery fee is $45 while the pit fee is $35. Please give checks to Pamela Ellingsen. Finally, please see the following YouTube link showcasing our head coach Casey Brohard. This competition recognized Casey as the number 1# snare drummer (blazing drum sticks) in the United States. We are fortunate to have him and a host of accomplished experts teaching our kids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzU5HBou2lU
