*** London Trip Chaperone Information

Thanks to all of you who have shown an interest in being a chaperone for the London trip. The following is information that will hopefully allow you to make a final decision as to whether you would like to be a chaperone. Since we do not yet know the exact number of students traveling, it is difficult to determine how many chaperones we will need. Ideally, we would like one chaperone per six students. Chaperones will be accepted in the order in which they make their down payment.

Chaperones must be adults traveling with the band. The job of chaperoning will be a full time commitment; therefore other family members, children or spouses may not travel with the band. Couples may chaperone but may not be traveling with other children. Families are welcome to travel independently and join the band at their public performances or free times. Families will not be accommodated on the band's scheduled sightseeing tours.

At this time, we can offer a $200 discount to adults who travel with the band as a chaperone. It is hopeful that enough money will be raised at The Magic of Music that we will be able to offer further discounts, however it cannot be guaranteed. Chaperones will follow the same payment schedule as the students. Student Account money cannot be used to pay for chaperones.

If you have further questions, contact Cindy Gehl at gehl4s@pacbell.net or 426-1481.

Thank you!

Campana Chairpersons

Dear Friends of Music,

This past weekend began the 2- week countdown to the Campana Jazz Festival. One of the most important things is to complete Volunteer sign-up. Are all the jobs identified? Are names filling up those jobs? Well, as of today, 92 Adult Volunteer jobs are identified, from pre-festival administration to post-festival wrap-up, and only 10 of those jobs remain unassigned. Those 82 filled positions represent 65 parents - and grandparents! You are inspirational! We are in the final stretch with an enormous amount of energy, and a commitment to make this a wonderful experience for everyone. Thank you!

*** Carl & Marilyn Palowitch

Are you a Campana Volunteer? Please read this:
Confirmation emails were sent to each of you last Saturday, stating your job assignment, time, location. These emails included a general update of the festival plans. If you are a volunteer and did not receive an email with your job information, please contact Marilyn Palowitch at marilynpalowitch@comcast.net or 925.426.7223.

If you have not volunteered, please read this:

Please volunteer. It's not too late. Ten jobs left! And an important one listed below in the CAMPANA JOB OF THE WEEK!

*** CAMPANA JOB OF THE WEEK

Instrument Check needs your help. While on campus, participating musicians sometimes need to store their instruments. We provide a room and room supervision. One or two adults are needed to supervise the Instrument Check room, for the time period from 2:30 until 7:30 pm. (1 person for all 5 hours, or 2 persons for 2 and ½ hours each.) You don't have to do much except be sure the students come in and leave quickly, and are set about the business of dropping off or picking up an instrument. You are not responsible for matching an instrument with a student, but only to be sure the room is attended at all times for the duration of your shift. This is a great job for an AFM parent who is more interested in finishing a great book than attending any of the performances! A student will be assigned to assist in the room as well. Does this sound like a job for you? Contact marilynpalowitch@comcast.net.

*** Marching Band Uniforms:
Kimberly Ansell

Uniforms Need To Be Turned in ASAP!

The Marching season is over and it's time to return the uniforms to the band room. On December 1, several carts were placed in the lobby of the music department for students to drop off their "CLEANED" uniforms. Please have your uniform cleaned and returned no later that February 8th. A committee will be checking in, inspecting, and sorting the uniforms in preparation for next fall.

Thank you so much for your cooperation. The marching students have shown great responsibility and care for these uniforms this year! Your help and cooperation has been greatly appreciated!

*****************************************************
Please follow the instructions from last week's newsletter very carefully for the return of all of the components of the marching band uniform. If you should have any questions regarding care and maintenance of the uniform, please feel free to contact me at 925-413-8810 or by email at KimberlyAnsell@Comcast.net.

Do you have a business, office, school bulletin board that needs a splash of color? We have a wonderful poster for the CAMPANA JAZZ WEEKEND for you!

Zzippes, a copy center on First Street in Pleasanton, designed and printed 120 posters to advertise the expanded Campana Jazz Weekend. Thanks to volunteers, half of these posters are now hanging in businesses around the tri-valley, but we want to get them all out there.

Send me an email at mariliynpalowitch@comcast.net
if you can hang one in your workplace, or would be willing to take a few to local businesses. Tell me how many you want, and I will place them on my doorstep with your name on them. Let's paint the town purple and gold!
