The Campana Jazz Festival is the anchor event in an exciting weekend of Jazz, and it all begins in just 22 days! The Amador Friends of Music, the Pleasanton Downtown Association, the City of Pleasanton Civic Arts Presents! and the Pleasanton Public Library announce the Campana Jazz Weekend to be held Thursday February 7th through Sunday February 10th, 2008.

Each of these community organizations, with their well established arts and community event programs, have joined together to create a weekend of Jazz events for the community to enjoy.

In addition to our own Campana Jazz Festival on Saturday, February 9, 2008, the Campana Jazz Weekend consists of the following events:

Main Street Jazz: Thursday, February 7, 2008, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Up to six downtown venues will be hosting jazz ensembles. Sponsored by the Pleasanton Downtown Association. www.pleasantondowntown.net

CivicArts Presents: Ravi Coltrane Quartet: Friday, February 8, 2008, 8:00 pm. This concert features Ravi Coltrane, saxophonist and composer, and son of the renowned artists John and Alice Coltrane. A true renaissance man, Ravi Coltrane is at the forefront of the restless few who are carving up new paths within jazz. Come hear the unique sound of a young jazz pioneer at the Amador Theater. For more information call the box office: (925) 931-3444 or purchase tickets online: www.civicartstickets.org.
Please note: Discounted Student Tickets are available with Student ID.

Sunday Afternoon Jazz at the Library: Sunday, February 10, 2008, 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm. This event features the Silver Moon Band at 1:00 pm followed by the Lee Waterman Latin Band "Jazz Caliente" at 3:00 pm. All library events are free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Pleasanton Public Library. For more information: http://www.ci.pleasanton.ca.us/services/library/programs-events-adult.html

To all Parents of Music Students: Please show your appreciation to these partners who have collaborated on the Campana Jazz Weekend by attending one or more of these events. Music appreciation throughout our community enhances the continued community support for excellent music education in our schools. Let's show up and show our thanks!

Magic of Music 2008
April 26th, 2008 Pleasanton Hilton

As the New Year begins I find myself doing a bit of reflecting.

As a Senior, my daughter is busy with college applications, school, out of town auditions, lessons and performances.

As a parent, I sit on the sidelines in awe of the amazing transformation that has taken place in her. Through Music my daughter has found her place in the world, her passion. She has grown so much through the opportunities that the music program has given her. The Band Program at Amador has given her a gift that she will carry throughout her life and for that, I am truly thankful.

We are all privledged to belong to a Band family that is one of the best in the country. This takes a Hurculean effort from the staff, parents and volunteers. I have seen the efforts that go on behind the scenes to make this program work and it is nothing short of amazing. So many people are doing whatever it takes to make our kids, and this program, successful.

How can a parent begin to share the gratitude?

Thats easy. Give back.

If you have been waiting on the sidelines to get involved, THE TIME IS NOW.

The Magic of Music is the Band's only major fundraiser of the year. It replaces many smaller fundraising events with much greater rewards.

It is fun! Attend! Donate! Volunteer! Bring your friends, co-workers and family!

Bid on wonderful Live and Silent Auction Items! When was the last time you Danced with your husband/wife/significant other?

You will be hearing much more over the coming months and will be receiving a Parent Packet in the mail.

There are a few areas that we need help in now. We need help on the Community and Parent Donation Committees.

If you can help please contact me at dodijones@comcast.net.
