*** Friends & Family Performance! Tuesday, November 13th, 6:30 PM Cindy Gehl
Do not miss this incredible opportunity to invite your friends and family to see the Amador Valley Marching Band and Color Guard in an encore performance of this year's field show, "Aurora Borealis". The band will perform the entire show in full uniform in front of what we hope will be a full stadium. What a send off this will be as the band prepares to compete at Championships in LA. Informational fliers will be available in the band room and may be picked up by students, or by parents at Thursday's AFM meeting. Additionally, fliers are available on the band website, under "parent information" and "downloadable forms". Pass the fliers out to as many friends and family members as you like. We want to share our talented students with as many community members as possible. This is a performance you are not going to want to miss!!
Breaking News! *** Jon Grantham The Foothill band will be joining us on Tuesday evening to perform their field show as well. This is a rare opportunity for our entire community to come together and share in the talents of the two bands.
*** Lost Flute Gary Crown
*** Lost Flute *** My daughter, Katarina Crown, lost her flute after performing at Diablo Valley College but before arriving at AVHS that evening 10/27.
I searched the bus before it left the parking lot but could not find it.
It is a Yamaha student flute, Model YFL-221, Serial Number 443803. Please call me at 925-997-8454 if found. Thanks, Gary Crown
*** Support Fellow Band Member Jon Grantham
Come support fellow band member and senior women's volleyball player extraordinaire in the last regular season home game against Foothill, this Thursday, November 8th at approximately 6 pm. Sophia has been a committed 4-year member of the marching band while becoming one of the most heralded volleyball players in all of EBAL. We are grateful for her continued commitment to her musicianship and the band while pursuing her athletic passion, and appreciate the model she has been to other student-musician-atheletes who want to make it work. If you have never seen Sophia play, don't miss your chance! And above all, let's have a great band family turnout to support her and the team in their final homegame at Amador!
*** Hello Dons Fans!!hot chocolate Janice Maurer On Tuesday, November 13th we will have snacks and hot chocolate for our wonderful band, amazing staff, and Amador families after the Friends and Family performance. If you would like to contribute and donate a tasty snack, please email me at jmaurerca@aol.com. This is a great time to say "Hi" to one another and enjoy an Amador treat.
Go Dons at BOA!!!!!
*** Photo's Needed Lori Sheppard
Calling all parent photographers! Please e-mail me any photos taken of the band this year (individual or group, whatever) I'd like to compile a cd for Mr. Grantham to use or distribute as he desires, make prints for the band wall, etc. I believe we have a few parents with great cameras but not everyone is at every practice so this way may capture them best. Thanks much, Lori Sheppard LLsheppard@gmail.com 503-267-6643
*** All Things Jazz Carl & Marilyn Palowitch
There was a great turnout to the Jazz Band Parent Meeting on Tuesday, October 30. Paraphrasing Darrell Laursen, we really shook things up! (Think back. October 30, 8:04 pm.) Thank you to all who attended. If you missed it, stay tuned to this column, All Things Jazz, right here in the AFM newsletter. *** Jazz Combo Entertains Business Community
The Amador Valley Jazz A Combo has been invited to perform at the Hacienda Business Park 25th Anniversary Party on Thursday, November 8. They are the musical entertainment for the event. Wishing a fine performance to combo members John Palowitch, Tony Sangiacomo, Aaron Scott and Ben Donlon . *** Campana Jazz Festival News
Thirty-six ensembles are now registered for the 33rd Annual Campana Jazz Festival on February 9, 2007. It's very exciting to be hosting at least fifty percent more groups than last year, with one additional venue and a new exhibition in Jazz Vocal. Campana 33 is shaping up to be a spectacular musical and educational event. With all this growth, volunteer helpers are in great demand.
How to volunteer? Watch this newsletter for "Job of the Week" listings (beginning next week). If you think you are a good match for a job, let me know. Jazz parents, please plan to help at least one-half of the festival day. If you can't be there, there is also a need for people to do administrative tasks in advance. And all families - even those not in the jazz program - are encouraged to help out and join in the fun. Updated: November 7, 2007 |
